Kalambo Falls in Mbala, Northern Province, Zambia

Kalambo Falls on the Kalambo River

The Kalambo Falls on the Kalambo River are a 772-foot (235-meter) single-drop waterfall on the border of Zambia and the Rukwa Region of Tanzania, near the southeast end of Lake Tanganyika.

The falls are among the tallest continuous falls in Africa, following South Africa's Tugela Falls and Ethiopia's Jin Bahir Falls, among others. The Kalambo Gorge, which runs for about 5 kilometres downstream of the falls and has a width of about 1 km and a depth of up to 300 m, has a width of about 1 km and a depth of up to 300 m.

The Kalambo waterfall is both Tanzania's and Zambia's tallest waterfall. Enid Gordon-Gallien led the 1928 expedition that mapped the falls and surrounding area. [1] It was initially assumed.
